The island of Favignana - Egadi islands archipelago

The island of Favignana is the largest island of the Egadi islands archipelago and is located about 7 kilometers from the west coast of Sicily. You can reach it daily by boat or by hydrofoils from Trapani, Marsala, or by boat from Naples on Summer.

Favignana or "Aegusa" as in ancient times was known shows a peculiar shape of a butterfly and has a surface of 19 square kilometers and a journey of about 33 kilometers. The current name is derived from the "Favonio" wind, a warm wind from the west which ensures the very mild climate all year round.
